I think perspective is something that gets lost in today’s society. We tend to only view things from our own perspective and forget other people’s perspectives. Things can easily get lost in translation making it difficult to effectively communicate. Which is just a shame, because imagine what humanity could accomplish if they listened to each other. Maybe that’s the point. As long as everyone is arguing nothing will get accomplished.
When you think of the word perspective, what do you think of? Someone’s opinion, or view point maybe. A generic definition. But have you ever looked deeper? Why is that their perspective? What are they trying to tell me? What’s the real message? Think of it this way, everyone is reacting to the world as they see it right? But everyone is viewing it through jaded filters. If you were taught at a young age that broccoli is evil it’s imbedded into your psyche. Now maybe as you start to grow up and are around more broccoli, your viewpoint changes some. It doesn’t matter whether or not if it’s true. The point is it’s a belief. You give power to that belief. You know no difference.
When you have a strong belief in something you are passionate about it. You can’t help yourself. It’s like the kid whose hand shoots up in class because for once he knows the answer. So it’s easy to get upset when someone challenges your belief. Especially if they educated on facts that you were not taught. Unfortunately, most people are ruled by their emotions and immediately jump onto the defensive and tend to argue. It’s important to stay calm and focus on the facts and have an open mind. If you are confident in your beliefs then no one has the power to sway you. We only get defensive when we feel threatened.
Every individual on this earth has their own view point. They each have their own filters they are looking through and not one is the same. They might overlap but no one will ever “walk in your shoes”. That’s okay! That’s actually quite amazing! Each person has their own unique perspective and just maybe we could all learn something from each other. We could also learn a lot about ourselves.
In the end, the only control we have is over our thoughts. We can choose what we focus on, and how we view things. We can broaden our perspectives. We can choose to learn from each other. We can choose better.
Sending love and encouragement for a brighter future, the Awakened Bruja
