The Bible references 40 days and 40 nights in numerous passages. During the great flood, Moses on Mount Sinai when he received the 10 Commandments, Jesus’s temptation trial in the wilderness, as well as the time between Jesus’s resurrection and ascension, just to name a few. But have you ever thought of these stories as symbolism? And what that symbolism is trying to tell you.
I view these stories as a great way to describe changing patterns and temptations. As humans we live in our brains patterns. We float through life engaging in what we perceive is our normal. But in doing so we often become unaware of what it is we are doing and struggle with our realities. Ever try to lose weight and struggle with yo-yo dieting? Or maybe continuing to date that toxic ex when you know they’re bad for you. We all have something that we would like to improve. Maybe it’s wanting to learn something new but you’re anxious to start. So you never do. It’s all patterns and our physical brains are controlling it.
Think of your brain like a computer to your car. Your car is the vessel (your body), Your heart is the engine that beats to your emotions. Getting excited, starts beating faster just like revving an engine. How you feel adjusts your pedal. Your consciousness is your awareness. So in order to make change in your life, you must first be aware of your pattern.
When you are serious about making change, or are forced to, 40 days and 40 nights of doing a new pattern will change your perception and your brain will adjust accordingly creating new subconscious patterning.
These biblical analogies are a great representation of this process written in symbolism. Noah and the flood is perceived differently if you view the water as a symbol of emotions and energy, the ark as the self, and each animal male and female as a representation of the positive and negative energies of each animal, which animals represent characteristics.
I personally view this story as a reflection of a dark night of the soul. A period of time that happens when your vessel comes into alignment and your conscious and subconscious becoming aware of each other at the same time. There’s a physical shift in your consciousness and you become flooded with thoughts and everything comes to light. You transform. You shed the old version of you and are reborn new. It’s a psychological resurrection of the spirit.
Each human is capable of bringing their shadow into light. Learning their subconscious patterning. It takes deep thought and contemplation. And the spirit of perseverance. Anything is possible when you are focused on it. It’s your belief.
With love,
