The word paganism can bring many pictures to someone’s mind. Witches, Druids, and Vikings. Native Americans. Satanists. It just comes down to any belief system that is non-Christian. The funny thing is, just because you are pagan, it does not mean you don’t believe in God or Jesus. I just have a different perspective than main stream Christianity.
I believe in God as the energy of the whole universe. Not specifically a God figure in heaven. Because I believe our life here on earth can be a heaven or hell.
I believe that the Gods are archetypes or energies that you can connect with. They help us to visualize what we are wanting to connect to. It’s no different than believing in the face of Jesus. We all know the mental image we think of when it comes to that name. But that image was created by an artist and adopted by the Catholic Church. It doesn’t mean that image doesn’t have power. It does, it stirs emotions that contribute to your belief. For the good or bad. Christianity isn’t a saving grace for everyone. Just look at what happened with the Native Americans. Christians came in and built schools forcing their beliefs on them. Their motto was literally “kill the Indian save the man”. My belief is God loves all he created. And do no harm. That’s the only rule. Do no harm. So connect with whatever image or energy that you relate to. Whatever brings you comfort and peace.
I believe in Jesus. I believe his teachings can truly help people live a better life. I believe people who believe in him should read all his teachings. Not just the ones in the Bible. In order to stand firm in your faith you should have a thorough understanding, not just a blind trust. Learn who wrote the books in the Bible. Who put the Bible together and for what purpose? Do you know what Jesus was doing in Egypt? Do you know how old the apostles were? Do you know the languages the books were written in? I didn’t. I learned that most of the original writings are from Greek. A language that has millions of words, considered the richest language in the world. Hebrew has like 12,000 words. So that’s a big difference to translate from Greek to Hebrew. Then to English. I know, for me, reading the translation of the Lord’s Prayer from Aramaic to English it gives a whole new perspective.
When I read the Bible I see a lot of paganism in it. Moses and the burning bush. My ancestors believe in speaking to fire. Anybody who loves a good bonfire has probably gotten lost in the flames a time or two. Baptism by living water. I believe that water is a life force. It’s the part of elements. Baptism by fire. I believe in the Kundalini fire serpent. Jesus went to the wilderness for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. I believe in solitude and meditation to heal your mental health. It’s just different perspectives.
I believe the body is a temple. It holds your sacred life energy. Therefore I believe it is important to take care of it. I choose to do yoga, dance, Qigong, breath work, frequency and energy healing. I choose to eat food that will benefit my body as well as treat myself. I’ve learned balance.
I believe the earth is sacred. Gods creation should be protected and loved. I believe every thing and everyone has its purpose.
I believe in being kind. I understand that there is a difference between kind and nice. I love true authenticity and healthy boundaries. I believe we should all strive to live our best lives and help each other. We can be a blessing to our family, friends, and community.
I believe in celebrating life. I believe in honoring our ancestors that have passed and those yet to be born. I choose to live my life fully for those no longer living. And I choose to live my life creating a future for my family and the ancestors they will create.
Most importantly I believe we all are sacred. We all are children of God. Children of earth. You choose the energies you interact with. You choose how you want to live. You choose how you want to feel.
I choose love. I choose peace. I choose joy. I’m choosing to live. Truly live. I pray you do too. I pray doors open for you that you never knew existed. I pray you are so blessed that you can’t stop smiling. I pray that the joy in your life brings tears to your eyes. I pray for a future for all humanity.
Sincerely, the Awakened Bruja
